Blast Resistant Services
Blast resistant glazing systems for government, embassy, federal courthouse, and high security commercial buildings, engineered to GSA and DoD performance criteria.
Blast resistant glazing is engineered to defeat the energy of a blast event while keeping the glazing system attached to the building structure. We install blast resistant glazing across California and Arizona on government, federal courthouse, embassy, and high security commercial projects.
Blast resistant glazing is specified to one of several performance standards depending on the building program. The U.S. General Services Administration uses the GSA glazing hazard rating from 1 to 5, where lower numbers indicate less hazard from glass fragmentation. The Department of Defense uses the Unified Facilities Criteria UFC 4-010-01 for antiterrorism standards on inhabited DoD buildings.
The assembly that meets these criteria is more than the glass. It combines laminated glass with a structural interlayer (typically SGP), an anchor system that transfers blast load from the glazing to the structure, and a frame engineered to deform under load without releasing the glass. Cable catch systems and structural silicone glazing are often part of the specification.
We coordinate blast glazing scopes with the project security engineer, the architect, and the GC, and we provide shop drawings that document the system level performance against the contract specification. We have experience on federal courthouse, military housing, embassy, school district hardening, and Class A commercial office projects across both states.
