A Trusted Partner in Commercial Glazing
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit academic medical center at 8700 Beverly Boulevard in Los Angeles, California, founded in 1902. It traces its roots to Kaspare Cohn Hospital, dedicated on September 21, 1902, on the east side of Los Angeles and named for its major donor, businessman Kaspare Cohn. That hospital moved to Fountain Avenue in 1930 and opened as Cedars of Lebanon Hospital, while Mount Sinai Hospital, which grew out of a hospice opened in 1918, moved to Beverly Boulevard in 1955. In 1961 the decision was made to merge the two as Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and the first patients moved into the current campus on April 3, 1976.
By its own published figures, the medical center has 886 licensed beds, more than 14,000 full-time employees, and more than 2,100 physicians on its medical staff, with about 50,600 admissions, 91,000 emergency visits, and 800,000 outpatient visits a year. It was first designated a Level I adult trauma center in 1984 and is one of four serving Los Angeles County. In the U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals 2026-27 rankings, it made the national Honor Roll for the 11th consecutive year, tied for No. 1 in California and Los Angeles, and had ten nationally ranked specialties, including Gastroenterology & GI Surgery (No. 3) and Cardiology, Heart & Vascular Surgery (No. 4).
The Cedars-Sinai Health System, a nonprofit system established in 2017, includes the medical center, Cedars-Sinai Marina Hospital in Marina del Rey, and the affiliates Torrance Memorial Medical Center in the South Bay and Huntington Health in Pasadena (affiliated since August 2021). Since October 2024, Peter L. Slavin, MD, former president of Massachusetts General Hospital, has been president and CEO of the medical center and the health system, succeeding Thomas M. Priselac.
Cedars-Sinai ranked No. 1 in California among independent hospitals in National Institutes of Health funding in 2025. In October 2024 it established Cedars-Sinai Health Sciences University, which includes the Chuck Lorre Allied Health School and a PhD program in health artificial intelligence. In 2025, its first full year, the university housed 16 residency and 76 fellowship programs and enrolled more than 860 learners.
